Recommended – Jenie Thai, Piano Blues and Roots, Uncorked on Main, Wednesday, January 20

Jenie Thai is a Roots and Blues, piano-playing singer-songwriter who will be doing a mini tour of Ontario from January 15 to 23. On January 18 she will be attending the Maple Blues Awards as a nominee in the Emerging Artist category.

Jenie is rapidly building a musical presence throughout the country with the electric energy she displays on stage and the old soul that’s conveyed through her songwriting. Jenie combines Classical technique, Jazz harmonics, and a life-long appreciation for Blues and Folk to produce a unique charm. She has been compared to an early Maria Muldaur soaked in the musical influences of Tom Waits and Bonnie Raitt.

With a lifetime of piano playing, a voice that spans more than three octaves, and a unique combination of influences, Jenie has been gaining international recognition. She was a semi-finalist in the International Blues Challenge (2014), was nominated for Edmonton Music Awards (2013, 2014), and was a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (2012).
