Ron Greidanus, Pianist and Conductor, has been the Director of Music and Organist at St. George’s Anglican Church in Georgetown since 2001. ron-greidanus

Ron has performed as a recitalist, chamber musician and soloist with orchestra in over 30 countries and has performed Rachmaninoff’s Concerti with the Vancouver Philharmonic, the Rochester Philharmonic, the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra and the Brampton Symphony.

Ron was raised on a dairy farm outside of Londesborough Ontario. Realizing at an early age that this was not your average baseball playing kid, his parents sought a suitable teacher and lessons began. Through these private lessons, master classes, studies and cultural mentorship the young aspiring musician embarked on his musical journey. And so began an educational background that has taken him around the globe both nationally and internationally including studies in Canada: Ottawa, London, Victoria, and Thunder Bay, as well Amsterdam in the Netherlands, New York USA, and Santander Spain.

During his studies in the Netherlands, while attending a period performance of a Bach Cantata, Greidanus was bitten by the ‘Baroque bug’ thus developing a keen interest in Early Music performance. Upon his return to Canada, full of knowledge and new ideas, Ron eagerly created his own chamber choir and orchestra – The Georgetown Bach Chorale. He has also conducted the Brampton Symphony Orchestra.

Ronald Greidanus has actively participated in Georgetown’s musical community since his arrival in the fall of 1998. He is choir director at St. George’s Anglican Church. A specialist in the music of Sergei Rachmaninoff, Ron has performed in the Second and Third Piano Concertos with the Rochester and Vancouver Philharmonic orchestras. As a regular guest of the Rachmaninoff Society, Ron has given recitals in Orlando and Vienna.
