Dayfoot, Folk, Shepherd’s Crook, Friday, July 17 at 8 pm

dayf3Dayfoot is a band from Halton Hills, Ontario, Canada.

The band formed in April 2014 after a series of writing sessions between close friends Keith Henderson and Douglas Richard Sinclair. Henderson, unable to pursue the band, discussed with Sinclair that he should form a band to make the songs a reality. Long time fellow musician Stephen Dayfoot was first to join, followed by Danen Sloan, Matt Wittmann and Susannah McKenzie-Sutter.

After only 4 months of writing and rehearsing, the band recorded their 10 song album in the home of close friend Vince Schaljo. Danen Sloan offered the tools and knowledge to make the DIY record, also mixing and mastering the album. Shortly after the record was finished, both Danen and Susannah left the band. The self-titled record “DAYFOOT” was released on December 20th 2014 at The Shepherd’s Crook in Georgetown Ontario. The first 50 copies each featured a unique photograph of people, places and things in the Halton Region and included a picture frame to display the art on a wall (Gallery found here: )

Since then, Vince Schaljo joined the band on vocals and guitar. A new fiddler by the name of Jasmine Martyniuk, met at a Celtic fiddle concert, began rehearsing with the band in January 2015. The band continues to write and perform new music and plans to release their second record in the summer of 2016.
