Rebecca Binnendyk, Jazz Vocalist with Guitar Accompaniment, Uncorked, Friday, February 6 at 8 pm

So … what’s your story, Rebecca Binnendyk?

“I studied voice at Wilfrid Laurier University, recieving my degree in Music Therapy and recording a Contemporary Christian CD in Nashville in 2004.

After university, I taught English in Shandong, China and traveled through Southeast Asia. In 2006, I started to build my practice in Music Therapy, before returning to school to complete my Bachelor of Education. When I graduated, I was able to backpack through Central and South America, gaining a love for the culture and language and have added many songs from this culture to my repertoire.

Since returning from these travels, I have been  actively pursuing a singing career in Jazz and Entertainment. In 2011, I was awarded a FACTOR grant and was able to record an eight-song album of Jazz standards, produced by Rick J. Hutt. These are found on my website, www.rebeccabinnendyk.com.

In 2012 I played the lead role in the musical, RENT for Kitchener-Waterloo Musical Productions. My schedule has been busy with performances at corporate functions, weddings, private parties, and community events, including international performances in New Zealand and Australia in the first half of 2014.

Singing is my passion 🙂 “
