Community Unity is an initiative of the Georgetown Ministerial Association, uniting churches in our community to give to those in need.

Since 2008, each Spring and Fall the group helps local residents who cannot maintain their yards because of age, physical restrictions or health related issues. In the Fall of 2014, Community Unity sent 200 volunteers to help 72 homeowners representing many different circumstances, each having been nominated from various community agencies.

In conjunction with this biannual activity, Community Unity prepares and serves a monthly hot, high protein meal at the Georgetown Bread Basket. A new initiative, Jubilee – Connections to Help, is a program of volunteers advocating for and helping connect people in distress to those that can help them regain their lives.

Funds raised go directly towards supporting the cost of these initiatives so that together a difference is made in the community, helping neighbours in need.

richard ebbs

Richard Ebbs, a transplanted British Folkie known particularly for his unique use of acoustic guitar to play what is best described as an Indian Raga.

Don Sawchuk, a fixture in the Guelph Folk scene, is an excellent songwriter and a talent that keeps getting better.

Erica Lewin, a local who now lives in Toronto, will do a mixture of original songs and covers. She is known for her cover of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”.

Malachi, another fixture of the Guelph music scene, spans both secular and Christian music. His strong, soothing vocals and bluesy guitar are a winning combination.
