Wish I could do proper posts, back at it next week good health permitting. SOME HIGHLIGHTS:
Shelzee and the Sax Man play The Shepherd’s Crook Friday night
Penny Arcade light up the McGibbon (both nights I think)
Nothing at Helson Gallery, St. George Pub or John Elliott Theatre.
Uncorked on Main:
Wednesday: Glen Williams’ Lewin Family: A pleasure to welcome the members of the Lewin family.
Jan Gittings and Phil Lewin are the long time core of The Glen Band, a Glen Williams based band. Jan performs a mix of Rock and Blues songs, including content from Guelph based songwriters. Husband Phil is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who will be performing a mix of originals.
Daughter Erica Leein will be accompanied by the guitarist from her band, Negotiable Instruments, a band that is notable for all members being in the legal profession. Good night to seek counsel!
And son Andrew could be about anything. Usually eclectic instrumental but anything is possible, especially when you have a voice with his range.
A real treat to have all members of the family on board for this special night.
Thursday: “Alfie Smith and Nicole Christian are old-style slide guitarists, multi-instrumentalists and a blues duo not to be missed. Featuring Alfie’s belting baritone vocals mixed with Nicole’s sass and jazz flute, they bring you blues, roots and songwriting in a way you have never heard before. Recording together for the first time as a duo with their debut album, “Come On In My Kitchen” is an unfiltered, live-off-the-floor album that melds Delta blues and Southern Rock, folk lyrics with glockenspiel accents, back porch banjo with fife and drum tradition. Come on into their kitchen, and you won’t be disappointed”
Friday: Kev Morse Trio with Greg Woods on percussion and Sharon Tiessen on cello supporting Kev’s excellent Pop songwriting.
Saturday – Recommended: The fabulous four piece group, Young Running: “Conjoining the complimentary genres of indie, folk and roots Young Running creates a unique aural drive that is as captivating as it is distinct”. Viewable here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6w2VMIo2xHc&feature=youtu.be
